The Hadeeth:

“A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say, ‘If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,’ but say only, ‘Allah so determined and did as He willed.’ The word ‘if’ opens the gates of satanic thoughts”

End.

Imam As Saadi commented on the above hadith by saying,

“This hadeeth indicates that Eeman includes the beliefs of the heart, statements, and actions, as is the way of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jammaah for Eeman is 70 odd parts/branches, the uppermost of them is the statement, ‘none has the right to be worshipped except Allah’, and the least of it is removing something harmful from the street, and shyness is a branch from it. These branches which the apparent and inner actions return to are all from Eeman. The one who carries them out correctly completes himself with beneficial knowledge and righteous actions, and completes other than him by recommending with the truth and patience, and he is a strong believer who has attained the highest level of Eeman. And, he who doesn’t reach this level, then he is a weak believer.” End translation. [Bahjatu Quloobil Abraar, page 49]
