Shaikh Bin Baz rahimahullah was asked:

Question:

Is there seeking forgiveness on the day of jummah between the two khutbahs with the tongue or in the heart? If it is with the tongue, did I engage in idle speech?

Answer:

Between the two khutbahs there is no harm to supplicate or seeking forgiveness between the two khutbahs. This is because the khateeb is silent. Likewise, before the khutbah or after it. It does not harm. However, during the Khutbah, he keeps silent and does not speak anything. He keeps quiet and listens, except if the Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salam is mentioned”

Question:

Should one raise their hand or just by tongue?

Answer:

Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen rahimahullah says one can raise his hands because the origin for supplication is raising the hands. He said there is no harm in that and if made supplication without raising his hands then there is no harm.  Shaikh Bin Baz rahimahullah however argues one can make suplication but not raise his hands because it has not been reported from the Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salam
